Position Summary
Position Summary:
Responsible for managing and directing activities related to a comprehensive hospital-wide information technology management operations; plan, organize, manage, and coordinate the implementation, daily operation, and maintenance of the hospital’s Information Technology in the functional areas of networking, operations, cyber security, EPIC, data analytics, etc. Ensuring the department provides efficient and effective technical support services.
Job Requirement
Education/Experience:
Equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems Computer Science or a closely related field and eight (8) years of experience managing an IT department.
Licensing/Certification Requirements:
None.
Additional and/or Preferred Position Requirements
Candidates must have the following additional required/preferred classifications to qualify for consideration:
- Current UMC IT Leadership Employee.
- Demonstrated experience leading and managing a large, complex business unit.
- Demonstrated experience leading change initiatives.
- MBA, MIS, or closely related advanced degree.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Physical Requirements
Knowledge of:
IT and practical applications to support the organization’s goals; financial and accounting principles and practices; generally accepted contract management principles and practices; supervisory principles and practices; Joint Commission regulations; budgeting methods; cost accounting principles; current quality improvement concepts; department and hospital safety practice and procedures; patient rights; age specific patient care practices; infection control policies and practices; handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials; department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures.
Skill in:
Latest technology for IT systems and management; excellent verbal and written communication skills; excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; excellent interpersonal skills.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Mobility to work in a typical office setting and use standard equipment, vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, stamina to remain seated and maintain concentration for extended periods of time, hearing and speech to communicate effectively in-person and over the telephone. Strength and agility to exert up to 30 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
