Job Title: Imaging Assistant
Reports To: Imaging Manager
Salary: $17.90 – $26.07 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
SUMMARY
Performs a variety of functions including: greeting patients, scheduling procedures, answering the phone, sending exams images via CD, transporting patients and other miscellaneous duties in assisting the technologists.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Demonstrates excellent customer service, verbal and written communication skills and professional phone etiquette.
Follows procedures for appropriate scheduling of patients for exams.
Maintains an organized work area and appropriately prioritizes job tasks.
Sends exam images to consulting providers via computer/CD.
Transports patients to and from the department as needed.
Demonstrates understanding and skills in use of computer systems. Is able to troubleshoot as needed and notifies supervisor and/or technical assistants, if required.
Knows and follows radiation safety policies and procedures.
Maintains patient confidentiality.
Accurately files, pulls, mails and re-files charts/exam images – on paper and in the computer systems.
Supports the policies and procedures of the organization and the standards of the Joint Commission as required for full accreditation.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Medical terminology knowledge and computer skills preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before patients or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand; walk; use hands to type, finger, handle, or feel; talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, and climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must be able to push a patient stretcher with 150+ pounds for undetermined distance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
