Position Summary

We are home to Nevada’s ONLY Level I Trauma Center, Designated Pediatric Trauma Center, Burn Care Center, and Transplant Center. We are a Pathway Designated facility by ANCC, and we are on our journey to Magnet status.
Assists physicians in advanced diagnostic and interventional procedures. Performs diagnostic exams on patients in the specialized areas of interventional radiology including cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology, vascular interventions, neuro-interventions, and other specialized procedures. Assists with diagnostic angiography, neuro-interventional, and other invasive procedures. |
Job Requirement
Education/Experience:
Graduate from an accredited radiology technology program or registered cardiovascular invasive specialist program and two (2) years experience in a cardiac Cath lab for RCIS-certified individuals or two (2) years of experience in Cath lab or interventional radiology units for ARRT. |
Licensing/Certification Requirements:
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification accepted by the American Heart Association (AHA). For those assigned in Special Procedure/Interventional Radiology Lab – State of Nevada License in Radiology and valid American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT) Registered in Radiography. For those assigned in Cardiac Cath Lab – State of Nevada License in Radiology and Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist or (RCES) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International or ARRT. |
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Physical Requirements
Knowledge of:
Procedures and protocols associated with radiation; specialized equipment used in interventional cases; cardiovascular procedures; hemodynamic waveforms, cardiac pressures, valve area calculations, catheter curves, and rated burst pressures; anatomy and physiology of the human body; contrast application and contrast reaction symptoms; venipuncture techniques; quality assurance and quality control measures; neuro-body disease; aseptic techniques and sterile field setup; vascular anatomy, pressures; catheter curves; rated burst pressures and compliance; personal computers; department and hospital safety practices and principles; patient rights; age specific patient care practices; infection control policies and practices; handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials; department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures.
Skill in:
Utilizing computers and specialized application software for scanning and diagnostic evaluation; utilizing specialized equipment and techniques for diagnostic evaluation; reading and interpreting cardiac rhythms, vascular imaging, and diagnostic evaluations; performing interventional and diagnostic procedures using advanced techniques and equipment; positioning patients to maximize procedural outcomes; applying aseptic techniques; positioning patients properly to maximize results; instructing patients about procedures and post-procedure rules and guidelines; performing interventional procedures; communicating with a wide variety of people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties; efficient, effective and safe use of equipment. |
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Mobility to work in a typical clinical setting and use standard equipment, stamina to remain standing and/or walk for extended periods of time, vision to read printed materials and computer screens, hearing and speech to communicate effectively in-person and over the telephone. Strength and agility to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
