Salary: Associate’s Degree: $39.16 – $58.33 per hour, based on experience and qualifications

Salary: Bachelor’s Degree: $39.74 – $59.21 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.

Salary: Master’s Degree: $40.14 – $59.80 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.

SUMMARY
Provides general nursing care to patients through the process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.  Directs and guides patient teaching, activities of ancillary personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing.  Demonstrates environmental concerns of infection control practice, safety/fire practice, disaster practice, cardiac arrest practice and continuous quality improvement aware of patient safety. 
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
 
Reports to the Charge Nurse collaborates with patients, families, physicians, and other nursing employees.
 
Assesses physical, psychological and social dimensions of patients and develops and follows a plan of care for patients.  Functions as patient team member working collaboratively with other patient care team members to ensure appropriate level of patient care.
 
Implements clinical and technical aspects of care and nursing orders in accordance with established policies and procedures.  Intervenes with proper technique, procedure and safety precautions to meet individual needs of patient.
 
Directs, reviews and evaluates nursing care and documentation of patient information.
 
Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates patient and family instruction/education and discharge planning.
 
Acts as a resource person regarding patient care, specialty area, orientation and teaching of staff.
 
Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates personal growth and learning development needs.
 
Possesses excellent communication skills, verbal telephone, written, to ensure accurate and adequate communication.
 
Participates in and supports research programs and activities; also participates in nursing meetings, committees and other activities which promote the growth and development of nursing and/or patient care.
 
Functions and supports the Joint Commission standards , FirstLight Health System and Nursing Department policies and procedures.
 
Considers age-related factors in care, treatment, education, and evaluation of patients ranging from neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.  Applies knowledge of age-related factors appropriately in accordance with professional standards and departmental policies and procedures.
 
Respects dignity and confidentiality of patients, serving as an advocate, as necessary, and providing a safe and secure environment for the patient.  Supports the Patient’s Bill of Rights.
 
Implements quality assurance standards and programs to assure compliance with standards of Joint Commission, as required for full accreditation.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Diploma, A.A. or Bachelor’s degree (B. A. or B.S.) from an accredited school of nursing; appropriate and clinical experience and/or training.
 
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Current Registered nurse licensure in the State of Minnesota.  BLS certification is required annually, and ACLS certification within one year.
